Hi all,

I just joined revleft yesterday. I am a graduate student of political economy with a focus on Marxism and labor. I am currently in the process of writing my thesis on occupational alienation in the 21st century service economy.

I am particularly interested in leftist interpretations of the state, and critiques of libertarian and voluntarist/an-cap notions of "force" under socialist political economic systems.

Very excited to be a new member here!

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Is anarcho-capitalism taken seriously by academia?

Of course not, because the Austrian School's praxeology is bullshit and rejects the scientific method.

Like ChangeAndChance said, absolutely not. Political economy is particularly Marxist. And mainstream economics is preoccupied with the neoclassical perspective, perhaps some Keynesians.

And, also like ChangeAndChance said, it is very true; quantitative scientific approaches to economic study are the norm. By rejecting this methodology, one is not in a position to be taken seriously by academics.

There are some philosophy programs, however, that are partial toward at least libertarianism, min-archism, and voluntaryism, albeit not explicitly "an-cap."
