Is Iraq a democracy?

Okay, got your attention. No worries, I know its not a democracy. But I was wondering about the political state of Iraq and its government. Some people have talked about the Iraqi government's high level of corruption and sectarian, divisive policies, but can anyone elaborate on that? What form of government does Iraq have today exactly? How effective is democracy in Iraq, since the overthrow of Saddam anyway?

The US' plans for Iraq were to install a more US-friendly government there naturally, but can anyone at least provide informative articles talking about that?

I feel stupid for asking this but help me out anyway.

Democracy in Iraq is non-existent, it is a proxy state of Iran at the moment. Journalists assassinated, outside influence from Iran/Saudi Arabia and widespread looting of government funds by parliament members.

Have you seen the Frontline documentary "Losing Iraq"? It's pretty good and talks about the sectarian policies of al-Maliki, trying to purge Sunni elements from Iraq's civil society etc, which has led to a lot of the violence happening in Iraq today.
