Hi there! Culicarius here. I live in and am a citizen of the USA but I hate it here, and I'm sure I don't need to explain why! I'm in the process of finishing up university and hope to move emigrate to Sweden in the near future as it seems more aligned with my beliefs, plus I have a lot of good friends there that I made online and during my travels there this past summer. (Though unfortunately the sweden democrats are getting more popular there and it's disgusting)

Anyway becoming a lefty has been a bit of a snowball. I never was into politics or economics until I was 16 years old, as I was fairly complacent in my life. Somehow I was so unaware of what's around me that it wasn't until that age I learned that gay marriage isn't legal here. Naturally my first thought was "why can't two people who love each other get married???" That sort of clicked a switch in my brain and I started to look into what other aspects of society appalled me. Fast forward five years and you have a very angry marxist feminist who wants to see capitalism crushed into submission and justice served to the people.

I think I've gotten a fairly good grasp on the technical aspects of communism, though I've run into the problem of being surrounded by people who don't view capitalism as the shitball that it is (I suppose we call it liberalism?), and nowhere to read and partake in discussion with people with similar views. My anger at the patriarchy and social injustice can be satisfied elsewhere, but people seem reluctant to tackle the economic issues which I think are the core of the world's problems. I'm reminded of one of my favourite images which depict two people at the base of a tree and the tree has problems written all over it (i.e. student debt, healthcare, economic inequality. and the trunk says "capitalism"), one is a liberal who states something like "we must cut these branches off!" the other is about to swing an axe at the tree and the caption states that he's a socialist.

Anyway I'll probably tend to lurk more than I post, but I look forward to learning and growing here!
