Noticing that the system companies, the swedish state-owned liquor stores with monopoly on selling closed containers of alcoholic beverages stronger than 3,5% - do not ask why on earth they are called that - are open a few hours tomorrow. Hooray!

Probably best be in good time and prepare for queueing as others probably have forgotten to make their purchases as well. But nice to know that I will have more than my bottle of sparkling, meant for midnight, to drink. :)

The beer sold in regular shops, known as People's beer, is undrinkable garbage you almost can get drunk on, so it is not a preferred option.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel...so far it doesn't look like an oncoming train!
I'm having a pretty good week overall since I've gotten some things figured out. That and I've been having a fairly lengthy conversation with someone who makes me smile. That, and I actually have plans this weekend! Considering I already got wasted on New Year's Eve, I'm gonna take it easy, but it still feels good to not be stuck at home with my anxieties (which are still there, but aren't gonna screw things up for me this time, damn it!).

My coworkers are awesome, most of them have my back. I overheard a coworker talk some shit about me (I don't care, in fact she was 100% accurate in substance) while I was in the breakroom before I got on my shift and I didn't have to do a thing because all of them immediately started defending me. Nut uh, ain't nobody talking about my boy ART like that *snaps fingers*. Like two days before that when my coworkers were gossiping and shit I asked one of them what people say when I'm not there and she said nobody says anything negative about me. I laughed at that thinking it was ridiculous but now I'm actually inclined to believe that I'm appreciated there by my coworkers (my boss is the exact opposite of course and will find any small thing to put you down) and that they aren't fake as hell.

So a while back I applied to a few schools, since I've been hoping to get back into university. Turns out that I've been accepted into every place I've heard back from so far. I guess I didn't fuck up my academic record to the extent that I felt I had, so I've been feeling pretty positive the past couple days. I guess as a side note, I'm fairly certain I'm falling in love with someone who feels the same way about me, so that is pretty awesome as well; sometimes it makes me wonder.

Went to a Lewis Black performance tonight. It was alot of fun, I love stand up and I've always loved the way he gets worked up to the point that it seems like he'll have a heart attack on stage. The show was at a casino, so I put down $50 and turned it into a $100 at the blackjack table. Hopefully I still have some of my winnings left by the time I leave the bar.

By his estimates, Richman's receptiveness has resulted in 160 irreplaceable hours of listening to grossly uninformed political opinions, 300 hours of carefully hearing out both sides of pointless arguments, and at least a month of listening to his parents' bullshit about how important it is to be open-minded.

Finally something suitable to post in this thread: a reward from the employer for 'work well done', a free 50 minutes facial treatment at the ships spa. I do love it and it puts me in a good mood, while it indeed is quite small compared to the millions I have created for this company through my labour over a decade and a half

This reward is however not for all the years I've worked for the company, but this 'Dance Band Week' we had earlier this year, a particularly horrible theme week to work at the reception. For my first decade here, I instead got a pin, which I can wear on my uniform. It is a really nice pin :)

Working night reception on this cruise ship can be tough, and today is no exception. Dealing with fighting, drunkenness, chaos are part of our daily lives. This is however a special hip hop cruise which makes it a little bit more bearable.

Not that I like hip hop, I actually hate 95% of it.

But not having a single racist asswipe onboard (at least as customer) really feels like a fucking breeze of fresh air from times gone by, when such people didn't yet have the courage to openly air their views to everyone, complain about immigrant passengers etc.
