Well it's nice to have found this community. Of particular interest to me is how the academy has advanced the "revolutionary left" through empirical examination of social problems and class politics and by improving on those methods through advances in action research and studying social movements. Sociology has been especially important at informing urban planning, co-production, and political theories of justice which define sustainability.
I have some formal training in sociology and my interests are in economic, rural, and environmental sociology. Some writers that have helped shape my thinking and research are: David Harvey, John Bellamy Foster, Robert McChesney, Naomi Klein, Nancy Fraser, and Robert Bullard.
Looking forward to getting my feet wet.
