I am new to Revleft so forgive me if this isnt the right place to post. I plan on purchasing Capital Volume 1, History of the Russian Revolution by Leon Trotsky, Ten Days that shook the world by John Reed, Revolution Betrayed by Trotsky, and Imperialism and Revolution by Enver Hoxha. I want to get a solid understanding of the theory, I have already read the Manifesto, What is to be Done, Imperialism is the Highest Form of Capitalism, State and Revolution and the Development of Capitalism in Russia. I will read Marx's, Engel's and Stalin's shorter works online but would you recommend anything else to the list? I want to read from both Trotskyits and Stalinists and was wondering if the the list I have put up was good. If you have any other recommendations or suggestions please feel free to tell me.

Stalinism ("Marxism-Leninism") and Trotskyism are not opposites. They are two branches from the same tree, the degeneration of the Russian revolution.

So if you want to get a broad range of views, you can definitely read both of these, but I don't think it's a good idea to restrict yourself to them or consider them the most important tendencies. They both belong to a dead world which isn't going to come back.

Redworker is correct, if Marxism is ever to become a reality of mainstream political culture and labor organization it will be in the form of "left" Marxism, formerly the mainstream school of Marxist thought before the right wing deviation that was Leninism hijacked Marxism.

Not to say that it isn't important to understand Marxism-Leninism, but I would recommend to your list Paul Mattick's Bolshevism and Stalinism (http://www.marxists.org/archive/mattick-paul/1947/bolshevism-stalinism.htm) and Luxemburg versus Lenin (http://www.marxists.org/archive/mattick-paul/1935/luxemburg-lenin.htm)

I concur with the other two. Marxism-Leninism is a dead ideology and was proven to be an utter failure when it was alive. Trying to dig its moldering carcass out of the ground is counterproductive and at this point only of value to historians.

Honestly, I'd suggest trying to get a solid understanding of Marx first -- not an easy task but it's better than jumping into some worldview marxism nonsense. Why are you interested in Marxism-Leninism in particular?

The Fundamentals of Marxism Leninism is pretty in depth and accurate. Specifically the 2nd, "revisionist" edition. I found a copy in a used bookstore for 2 or 3 dollars a couple years ago.

Try following his footsteps. You got friends in high places. Nobody will abandon you.

How this guy was able to survive 50 years of waging an armed struggle is living proof that we have friends among ideologically committed 'public servants'. I am one of them.

Do you really think that has anything to do with marxism leninism? No, you're just spamming for no reason. We get it, I acknowledge you. But guess what socialistlawyer, I think you're a real asshole.

Thank you. To further the cause of socialism or Marxism-Leninism we have to improvise. It's not mere talking and posting in this forum. Again, thank you.

I am not interested in your profile for lurkers to read. I can already size up committed communists like you through your posts. You're on your own. Philby had nerves of steel. Maybe you have too. Praises then if you have.

I 'disclose' wrongdoing. Seriously. I had a hand in releasing the Cuban Five because incarcerating them is a wrongdoing.
