SADDAM IN 'TERROR TAPE'

New footage has been released purporting to show Saddam Hussein paying large sums of money to a terrorist group.

Liberal Democrat peer Baroness Nicholson says the footage is "incontrovertible proof" of the former Iraqi dictator's links to international terrorism.

It appears to show the former Iraqi President plotting crimes and paying money to members of an international terrorist group.

Baroness Nicholson says the group of men in the footage looked after Saddam's chemical and biological warfare.

The footage given to Sky News was reportedly looted from one of Saddam's palaces.

What does everyone think? Is the tape real?

Bin Laden wanted to ally himself with Saddam in the early 90's. But this was rejected by Saddam and AL Qaeda are now anti-ba'athist

Before I accept that Saddam was supporting any terrorist organization, I want to know exactly who the people are. It is not acceptable to show a Saddam shaking hands with brown people and saying "See! They are terrorists!"

Saddam has had no "real" terrorist connections since the early 90's. His most prominent connection was Abu nidal and his terrorist group but that group has been disfunctional since early 90's and abu nidal died 5 or 6 years ago. Although abu nidal's group has been located in Iraq they have been inactive for over a decade, hardly a terrorist threat. If that really was a problem war would not be needed to solve that. It is also important to note that Saddam was removed from the terrorist supporting list in 1984 by the US even though Abu Nidal's reign of terror was most prominent during the 80's, just so reagan could supply saddam with arms. Also abu nidal has targeted westerners but he was most prominently known for his assassinations of arab leaders.
Saddam is a smart cunning man. If he knew what was good for him he would not have even been involved even on a minor level with any anti-US terrorist group. Saddams goal was to slip under the radar and eventually just ignore sanctions. If he had an ounce of intelligence he'd know that if he did get involved with any terrorist group of the likes of al-qaeda he should expect a quick retaliation and obviously bring attention to himself contradicting his goal to ignore transactions. Regardless he still got invaded.
