i know many of you don't like michael moore, but watching Bowling for columbine again, i started thinking how bad the american media is.

it was the speech on the bonus DVD that got me thinking,

the bit where he said the police stopped parents from going to find there kids, and waited 3hours before they themselves went in in which time people had died who wouldn't have. but it was when he said when a piece of yellow tape stops the most primal instinct, to protect and risk your own for your child. I was discusted to think that people didn't cross the line and why?

are people in america that scared becuase the police said so that they wouldn't try and save they're son/daughter?

does the media do this? Could it be possible that they live in fear of what might happen becuase all they get shown is what has happened, despite murder decreasing 20% and media coverage increase 600%?

and most importantly Why do the media do it? i don't know and i wanted your opinions on it all.

Violence/murder/crime sells.
The media wants money.

So the media shows violence/murder/crime.

The media keeps Americans on their toes with ever increasing coverage of murders, abductions, rape cases, natural disasters, wars, terrorist bombings, and when that gets old, shark attacks and false health information. We are so numb to these terrible happenings that they simply have to cover and sometimes embellish sicker shit. We Americans are a fearful people indeed. But I really think it all comes down to the fact that we have nothing else to do but watch the news. And we are real gullible too. That helps. :P

The media goes hand in hand with Crime, the police force, capitalism, etc. Who's always the first one at the scene of the accident? The news anchors. Who fucks up stories and never reports on the real issues? The news anchors. Who gets their reports edited by officials and released when the time is right? The news anchors.

yes i totally agree, especially when my local newspaper is owned by an impirialist regime that also has its hands in everything from oil refineries to reforestation, exploitation and manipulation of the masses is the name of this game.

It's kind of funny how capitalism and facism go hand in hand :)

maybe we should change propoganda to americabrainwashingation
