Happy new year comrades!! by the way my contry (portugal) is in the Euro so come 12:00 pm our nation currency will change, but our society and our lives will remain the same. We will continue to earn less and have bigger prices here than in the rest of europe. This very year workers salaries where raised below inflation. So what do i care about the Euro, no it doesnt make a difference to me or to the working man.
Anyway, political messages aside, happy party!!

Yeah, I have many many many new year's resolutions. Be a better socialist, visit Cuba, finally get the fuck out of the country, and more! And not to really slam on the parties I'm sure we're all about to have or go to or whatever but I'm shocked as to how far the Christian religion runs deep in our society. I mean look at us! We're all celebrating the new year! When it isn't really the new year but rather the Christian New Year. Right now we're all celebrating 2002 years of Christianity! I mean to me that's a disgrace and a perfect example of how bad our society really is. I was going to start a new thread on this but I don't want to put a stop to people getting drunk except maybe the capitalists, they shouldn't have any fun. I wish I could celebrate new year's Che style--with a Cuban cigar. Damn embargo, maybe this will be it's last year? Who knows? Maybe this will be the year the USSR rerises or the U$A falls on it's face, there's alot to look forward to.
So talk to you all next year!

Happy new year to you all! *gives all a big revolutionary hug, whatever it is like* It's 1.1.2002 now and I'm still up. Impressing. Though it's hell of a cold outside, I bet it's now -30c... BRRRRHHHH!!!! :P Let's hope this year will be better than any other and let's hope we'll come closer to peace. Tomorrow (erhm, today to be exact) we can buy things with euros and boy do I HATE THEM!!!!!!!

And as for the resolutions, these are for me:
read more, listen more and shut up when you really don't know what you are talking about. Boycot more and tell people more about what you know. Take a part to a demonstration, if there is one that interests you. Be better person for everybody and atleast try to understand.
There's a little something for me to do... Hah.

In self-reflection over the past year I realized I haven't been good or true to the Communist name and have, in my opinion, disgraced it. Therefore I am rejecting my communism (for the time being).
It's pretty depressing finally realizing that I haven't been a communist for the past year, I kind of just assumed and said I was. I always talked about it and wore the clothes with things like CCCP on it but that's it. I never truly had all the theories down or participated in any protests or other activities. The real knowledge I had was mostly based on Che Guevara and I feel that I have distorted his image by representing communism. Until I become further educated in communism, theories, etc. I'm pretty much stepping back from the whole communist scene (except the Che-Lives community, of course) and trying to educate myself as much as possible. I hope by this time next year I can call myself a communist once again but hopefully then it will have real meaning and won't disgrace the name and the ideals behind it.
This has a kind of 'good-bye feeling' in it I, don't know why. Probobly because I'm no longer a communist, rather a 'pre-commie' I suppose.
Sorry to have mislead you, comrades. I was pretty mixed up myself and it took me an entire year to realize it.

great post dread, i agree with your idea of the new year, its bullshit and it is the christian new year. which is why i stayed home tonight and just read. I have no inclination to go out and get smashed and pay 5 times the amout of money i would usually pay. new years is a capitalist idea, i mean, in all seriousness, who cares if its a new year? why does that change things? we shouldnt have to wait till this stupid "holiday" to make resolutions, we should strive everyday to make ourselves better. this is simply a day in which we go ahead a year in the christian calender i see no need to celebrate, perhaps theonly ones who should are the christians. i didnt want to spoil anyones night but i think we have to realize this point. that tonight along with christmas and valentines day is a scam.
goodluc to you dread in attaining more knowledge my friend it is but worthwhile, however i feel u have represented communism well, based solely on your attitude towards change, that is always good enough. if you would like any material to study, feel free to email me and i can refer you to books and other sources which u can learn from. peace

The cubans are an addiction I'll give you that. I've had several. The cigars are good too (I couldn't let that slip by).
Thanks for the support Danatural! Always appreciated, comrade. I've got to actually go to the library now. Hmm and I thought that place was evil.

Dread, the library definantly isnt an evil place, in fact its the best place to find quick results on various topics. My best advice is to go to the libary, and look at their Encyclopedia of Philosophy. Its probably a 7-10 volume set, you can find anything you want. You can look up historical materialism, dialetical materialism, reductionism which was very popular at marx's time, which is what led him to have a very empirical and scientific view of the world. you can read about Lenin's interpretaton of dialetical materialism and how his differed from engels. Basically anything you want will be in there.its a great source on it. Get a stack of paper spend one evening a week there and you will have gained a wealth of knowledge within a week. peace

thanks again for the information, DaNatural. Once I get a liscence to drive that won't be a problem. It's just too bad a certain nation won't invest in their public transportation systems. Fucking suburbs I tell ya.

I'm old enough to drive, but the fucking mayor still doesn't have the DMV in order, I can't afford a car, and I'm a terrible driver. If you ask me, relying on public transportation may be shitty but it still ends up being better.

I have a few resolutions specifically for this board.
First I hope to cut some slack to guest, and all others who think anarchy sucks and is about capitalism and chaos. I know how mockingly obnoxious I tend to get.
Secondly, when having need to use the word "blow-job" I am going to replace it with the proper verb "fallatio".
Finally.... I'm putting on my wear-worn combat boots and taking out some capi butts!!!!!
