I was feeling punny in a class on Conservatism today (BORING) so I started coming with puns based all around ideology. Thought I'd share them on here for a bit of light hearted banter. Anyone got any to share? (Warning: High Chance of Bad Comedy)
What do you call a Liberal serial killer?
John Stuart Kill.
My country's probably too backwards for me to start a revolution.
But it's alright, I'm not russian.
How does a Liberal keep a Socialist from taking his property?
He Lockes his doors.
What do say about a Communist with the shits?
He's got the Trotskys.
What do you call a Revolutionary Leader who failed to start a global revolution?
Sadmir Lenin.
What's Mao's favourite plate to eat off?
The Red China.
I decided that I needed to compliment my knowledge on Marxism but I didn't know how.
I took a step back and started looking at it from other Engels.
I saw a guy with a scruffy beard walking down the street. I said to him: 'you've got no class'.
He replied: 'Thanks'.
I invited Marx round to my place for a cup of tea. He brought round his own artificial, bottled tea. I asked him: 'Why are you drinking that stuff?'
He said: 'It's because I hate proper-tea'.

So I take it you wouldn't give me high Marx?
I was going to get some from the internet as well but I've been Stalin for time.

Let's enjoy it while it lasts. I'm pretty Proudhon of myself.

I genuinely have no idea what "Kautsky" was supposed to be a pun for. "Running"?

'Caught'. A lot* of people here pronounce his name 'Kort-sky' not 'Kowt-sky'.
Likewise some Brits think Eva Braun (Ayva Brown) was called 'Eeva Brorn'.
*By 'a lot' I suppose I mean very very few, as opposed to the massive number who neither know nor care who he is. Obviously many more people know who Eva Braun is.

Well, the question is, how should you pronounce '-au-' in a German? Should you pronounce it '-ow-' or should you pronounce it '-or-' (in communer's orthography, is it '-ou-' or '-ah-', but I think the latter would produce the pronunciation 'Brarn' and Kartsky', because I think the word 'hall' is pronounced 'horl')?
It's either 'Brown' and 'Kowtsky', or 'Brorn' and 'Kortsky'.
Hint, it's 'Brown' and 'Kowtsky'.

Yeah, only because communer changed the orthography half way through, and I was trying to be inclusive.
So; is '-au-' pronounced '-ow-' (therefore, Brown & Kowtsky) or is it pronounced '-or-' (therefore Brorn & Kortsky)?

who pronounces Kortsky?
Also, we all know that the correct pronunciation is "Cáutiski".

As TFU says... some English-speakers pronounce '-au-' in German words as '-or-'. as in the name of the famous producers of electrical goods, which is almost always prounced 'Brorn', even on their own TV adverts.
