Anyone know of any cool Jazz music?

I've been listening to a Swedish band called "Koop", not strict jazz but check em out.

Please no Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock we all know them

I adore jazz. I dig Third Stream artists like Charles Mingus and I like free jazz as well. It's probably my favorite genre.

Why would I care for something that "does not sublate [Aufheben] alienation, but intensifies it" and "wants to improve its marketability and veil its own commodity character which, in keeping with one of the fundamental contradictions of the system, would jeopardize its own success if it were to appear on the market undisguised"?

jk, I'll be following the thread, silently.

There's quite a few Jazz orientated users here, maybe they have some ideas:

I don't listen to jazz. Does Crass count?

by "cool jazz" do you mean specifically the subgenre of jazz that is "cool jazz" or can we post any jazz that we like?

I like Latino music, but this song is one of my favorite salsas and it sounds jazz inspired:

Might be a stretch. But I reckon this makes the cut:

Awesome that there are so many fans of the genre, this more than anything else has made me like Revleft a whole lot more. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Haha anything you like or can even be vaguely related to jazz. When I said cool I was thinking of a greaser that called people "cool cats", perhaps avoid bands that like to do 10 minute drum solos, I don't have the mental concentration for that. :)

Drum solos are great to listen to while on the go via ear-plugs. (Provided not too loud) Here's a 10 minute drum solo by a drummer with a sense of humor:

If you're not a big fan of trap sets (there are some pretty subtle trap set players out there though) how about tablas? Not a giant sound but very intricate at times. There's a few hour long tabla solos on youtube. Not jazz but still improvisational.

I've been really digging the new badbadnotgood album III. Also I've been turned on to Last Exit's album Iron Path. Really free form and a great gateway for metalheads to get into jazz. I would be providing links but this is the first post so do some work and look them up yourselves

The Dave Brubeck Quartet is one of my favorites: Time Out (1959) is an excellent album. Though you ought to listen to the live version of Take 5, since it features Joe Morello's fantastic drum solo. A jazz reimagining of some of Erik Satie's most famous piano works, the Gymnopedies and Gnossiennes, by the Jacques Loussier Trio is excellent.

Huge jazz and fusion fan here. Some of my favorite musicians would be Eric Dolphy, John Coltrane, Anthony Braxton, Don Pullen, Sam Rivers, Jack DeJohnette, Charles Mingus or Ornette Coleman. There is lots of self-display, arrogance and worship of alienation in jazz but you'll find that in other forms of music as well. If you don't like jazz, say it straight out. Nothing wrong with disliking jazz but lay off the Adorno nonsense.
