What do you think about the legality of this?

I think it should be legal, assuming people also have the means to readily get treatment for their depression or whatever it is they are dealing with.

I believe that a person who is terminally ill, with no possibility of effective treatment or a cure in the foreseeable future, has the absolute and fundamental right to end their lives, without pain and with their dignity intact. It is wrong to force an individual with a terminal illness to suffer a painful end.

It should be legal for people who can be certified that they're in a state of mind to make such a decision. I am not in favor of offering medically assisted suicide to people who have severe depression.

We should do everything we can to help these people first, I think

I understand your position, but some people are resistant to treatment and can't get any enjoyment out of life. I think they should have the option to do it in a quick and painless way

I was resistant to treatment, as well. That you "can't get enjoyment out of life" is a function of the disease while someone is in an episode. Depressive episodes are not permanent or terminal and should not be treated as such. Any measure should be taken to help them see through the episode, which includes support and therapy. I wouldn't judge anyone who does end up killing themselves, but it's entirely unethical to provide them the means to do it. Depressives are not cancer patients that are staring down their final days.

The question is whether or not people should be able to assist people to kill themselves? That is usually only necessary for people who no longer have the physical capabilities to end their life.

I absolutely think it should be possible for people to receive help to end your life. There probably needs to be some kind of oversight though. Perhaps it should only be permitted by healthcare providers?
