spirit, im actually reading the same book but have a different take on it than you. he is calling lenin's brother a terrorist because at the time that is what they were called. im about half way through and although the writer isnt exactly pro-lenin, he does not go out of his way to thrash him. he presents a good case of the man and its up to us to draw conclusions. another thing is, that lenin hmself did sympathize with terrorists and advised his bolsheviks to read terrorist writings to learn from it, so the author is merely providing real information. i think the book isgreat should be read. peace

no he is calling them a terrorist,he uses the word freely and he does not give any reason why he called them a terrorist[i.e he doesn't explain they are called a terrorist by the standards of then,or does he say ''terrorist''],he believes they r terrorists,he has gone out of his way to knock him, calling him lazy and shit, yeah he isn't all out against lenin but from what i have read the book on the bottom line is edging you to have bad ideas of lenin

Nowadays every right-wing asshole is using the word terrorist innapropriatly: on cnn I saw a guy talking about how u.s. task forces would take out b-lad. and was making past referneces, an example he used was che gauvera, che was hardly a terrorist as everyone who's read geurilla warfare knows.Still che was compared to osama as a terrorist and that's very untrue. Lenin could be wrongly considered a terrorist because he argued for the creation of parralel secret and mass organization. Anyone doing that now will probably be tried in one of those military tribunals. basically we need to discuss the criteria for being a terrorist.

Yes, the American people often do distort the line between terrorist, anti-american, and American rather easily. For example, Britain is agreeing and assisting with America and therefore they're supposedly 'good'. While Cuba is against America's recent military actions and therefore they are terrorists. Just as Che was trying to loosen the imperialist noose from South America he was considered a terrorist. Allthough, JFK who proposed and implemented the trade embargo, could easily be considered a terrorist since Cuba is now a poverse and starving nation. Interesting how confused the common American people are now adays and are willing to listen to any garbage that makes the slightest of sense to them. "Don't question, just listen" is their motto.

spirit, i see what your saying, but even leon trotsky referred to men like tkachev as terrorists and he opposed it. He understood where they were coming from but he opposed it. He called them terrorists just as service did. from reading this book ive actually grown to admire lenin and his revolutionary spirit and ive also grown to somewhat dislike him as i see how spoiled he was and wanted that type of lifestyle, yet he wanted communism. Remember tho, that anyone that spends years researching someone, they have a degree of admiration for the person and service often speaks of lenin's great speaking skills and how convincing he is. that he is a born leader. the points he critiques him on are valid ones. and not once can i say he has called lenin a terrorits, he only refers to the people who in that time frame were. and like i said trotsky called them that too. so lets not get too offended. ive previously read on lenin and ihavnt found any other author show the pros and cons of his life so vividly. peace
