Disabled people in Greece are often stigmatised and can struggle to get the support they need. Some disabled children who live in a state-run home are locked up in cages - staff say they want to improve conditions but money is short.

From reading that BBC article it sounds like the staff need a stern kicking.

That is absolutely disturbing, and I hope the staff gets the foul treatment they deserve. No one ever deserves to be locked up or treated like an animal, and neither do animals deserve to be treated like lesser creatures. It makes me think about how some Amish families in my area treat their inbred children, like horrors to be hidden. The Amish in my area are very inbred and often children are born with severe deformities and they don't get treatment for their problems. Rather their parents hide them, lock them away, and abuse them. Some children get lucky enough to get a hospital visit for the ones that get seizures or have rare blood disorders, and their parents don't let them take meds if necessary, and neither do their parents let them live like actual humans in any way due to their religious bullshit.

This is incredibly off topic but how do you know that the Amish in your area are very inbred? Wouldn't that be some kind of closely guarded family secret?

I live around a very large Amish population and the community is fine with first cousins dating and get married, often they have kids. Even brothers and sisters will produce offspring, I'm not gonna state any personal information, and its a poorly kept secret. Not to mention the town I live nearest too is filled with cousins who are married and have children. My neighbors wife is a product of a brother-sister pregnancy. She's married to her first cousin and they have three kids, sll of which are autistic and one has a serious blood disirder.
