I am a Communist from the South-Eastern United States where most everyone I know at least leans to the right, so it is difficult where I live to find like-minded individuals who are not Liberal.
My ideals are: egalitarianism, internationalism, individuality realized through community, solidarity before self-interest, and the overthrow of capitalism through revolution and the establishment of a proletariat dictatorship dedicated to the ultimate goal of communism. In am a Marxist, Feminist, tree hugger, and ignostic with a strong distrust of any (economic) reformist tendencies. I am also pansexual and transgender (MTF) and support my queer comrades in their struggles for equality even within the Capitalist State.
I became a communist through my volunteer work within the Christian church and through the teachings of Jesus against greed and the wealthy. I learned how powerful solidarity could be and how miserable life is under the chains of wage-slavery. The teachings of Christ lead me to question the capitalist system (one which my church supported) I lived in and discover Marx and his theories of alienation of labor. It struck a chord with me, and I haven't gone back.
