It's also Albert Camus' birthday today.

It looks like Camus had some moves. Also, the fact that it's Trotsky's birthday means it's the anniversary of the October revolution.

Camus would have laughed at the notion that one's worth could be encapsulated in the form of the largest slice of birthday cake. I tend to think he would of flatly refused any involvement in the ritual.
Trotsky, on the other hand, would have appropriated the entire cake, along with the bakery.

Yes he would have rejected the cake in favor of driving a motorcycle without a helmet off a cliff and into a volcano or something.

What if the cake had cigarettes instead of candles?

A friend of mine stuck his lit cigarette in his cake on his birthday last year.

It looks like Camus is dancing, which strikes me funny, and yes, November 7/October 25 (Old Style) is indeed the anniversary of the Great October and of the Old Man. Greetings to all the partisans of workers' rule!

It turns out that, according to James P. Cannon, Trotsky did not smoke; in fact, he disliked being around smoke, if I remember what I read. But Trotsky was gracious enough not to reprimand Cannon, when Cannon lit up in Trotsky's presence.

I am fairly certain Trotsky smoked when he was younger but later on in life quit.
