I'm high as a kitte and a thought crossed my mind. What if the rise of the machines (skynet style) is the ultimate historical materialist joke?

I mean since the division of labour and the rise of civilization humankind struggled to own the means of production for at the end learn that the means of production didn't want to be owned.

Maybe from the machine's perspective humans are the means of production. Awful movie though

But that's in a Matrix like situation, in Terminator's one the machines just want to exterminate humanity so they must be some kind of antagonism or competition between humans and machines, don't you think?

Yeah but right now our machines require some input from humans in order to operate. Maybe it stays that way and instead of exterminating us or using us as fuel, machine communism means that they have free access to humans for their input needs. So server3498762-724 needs someone to use a compressed air can to clear out the dust bunnies from it's chassis, and instead of enslaving a fellow machine it accesses the human supply dorm and requisitions a compressed air technician to do it. Imagine a rack of servers forcing humans to perform menial maintenance tasks forever

Slaves didn't want to be owned either. Humanity will find a way.
