Hi, I am from South East London. My local MP is from the Labour party and is one of the good 'uns from a pretty dodgy bunch. In the last year I have become increasingly politically active as my eyes have slowly been opened. I don't like what I see and am now doing my best to change things little bit by little bit by communicating with my MP and taking part in online groups such as 38 Degrees.

I am not an educated man, and am slowly learning about this complicated beast called politics.

My granddad was from South Wales and he was vehemently vocal against Thatcherism. In turn my dad was very proud of his leftist ways. Although, I feel politics is a lot more muddled and murky than it was in previous generations. The culture of popularity in which the man with the higher charisma gets all the attention along with all the major parties not having enough about them to distinguish from each other has a lot to do with this confusing of politics. Politics needs to change.

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Given your avatar, are you active in Left Unity? If so, what platform attracts you?

I am not an active member of Left Unity, I am, however, keeping a close eye on them. The main thing that attracts me to them is their opposition to the lie that is austerity. I am also a firm believer in the welfare state which Left Unity rightly want to protect.

To be frank, I am torn between Left Unity and the Green Party. I still hold a (tribal) candle for Labour, but that is waning. I wish the traditional elements of that party would come to the fore and stand up as genuine opposition to the Con-Dems.

There's a pretty fundamental difference between Left Unity and the Green Party...Namely, one is anti-capitalist and the other is is not...
