But seriously, wouldn't this be kind of cruel? I mean imagine just going to sleep and waking up a moment later and 90 years have gone by, nobody you know is alive, your life's work is a thing of the distant past, etc. but I don't think he'd be surprised at what happened to the Soviet Union, he could already see it turn sour at the end of his life.
