well, i got stuck in a dinky direct study art class with my least preferred art teacher this year. i hate pottery. i loathe and despise it. nonetheless i ended up with some pretty cool shit. the mug here i made after going to the october protest and was rather inspired by the anarchist sense of style. the little woman crawling out of the shell has no purpose whatsoever. i'm surprised the glaze turned out so well on her, particularly interesting around the face. i'd been very unhappy with the whole situation of getting stuck in that class and did a slapdash job of both concept work and actual shaping and glazing. the colors definitely work. now on the mug, i did it just plain red and i got freakin' marked down for it because i did it all one color. my reasoning behind that was that the glazes were incorrectly marked and on one of my other pieces, the sun turned out pink and so did the grass. stupid teacher. but enough of my ranting. enjoy.

well, it took me about three weeks. we worked every other day and i cut that class alot. i probably worked on it a total of three or four days. then glazing took me one day.

youre not bad at pottery considering you hate it, i like the mug, the red makes it unique.

is it like enameling or pottery?
Either way, both could really pass as great works in American Folk-Art. Especially the shell/woman.
I really like it. Too bad you only took one class.
