Black Friday Revolution
28th October 2014, 01:54
We have all suffered far too long at the hands of the Republican Party. Ever since we made significant progress in the 1960s and 70s, the Republicans have been gradually dismantling democracy as we know it today. From 1961 to 1966, there were no school shootings in the United States - now, since the Sandy Hook Massacre in 2012, there have been 87 school shootings thanks to the Republican Party’s refusal to agree to background checks for gun owners because they themselves are essentially owned by the NRA. In 1973, abortion was legalized with Roe v. Wade - now, over 73 abortion clinics have shut down since 2011 as it becomes harder and harder to get an abortion thanks to the Republican Party. In 1944, people who made over $200,000 dollars a year (nowadays, $2,704,897.73 dollars a year) gave 94% of their earnings away to taxes - now, the tax rate for the super-rich is 35% thanks to the Republicans siding with the multi-billion dollar corporations that own them and finance all their campaigns (we’re talking about you, Koch brothers!!!) In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was passed, outlawing discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin - now, 39.4% percent of America’s prison population is Black (even though they make up only 13.6% percent of the national population) and 58.0% percent of the prison population is non-violent drug offenders thanks to the harsh laws perpetrated by the Republicans and the racist police brutality carried out by those who support them.
The irony is that, despite all these hard, cold facts showing the blatant corruption and amorality of the Republican Party, they CLAIM to be the moral ones, they CLAIM to be the victims, they CLAIM that there is a liberal bias conspiring against them in all levels of society. Guess what, Republicans, there is a liberal bias - it’s called REALITY!!! Everything we say is true, everything they say is a lie! We are the true victims - for years we have had to suffer for their restrictive laws that have slowly chipped away at the building blocks of democracy that made this nation great in the first place. Now, it seems the Republicans are going full circle and finally putting an end to democracy in America as we know it today - as if cheating in the 2000 election and then plunging America into endless wars and massive debt wasn’t enough, they are now trying to pass Photo ID laws that intentionally make it hard for people to vote - mainly for people they don’t like, such as Blacks, poor people, young people, and the elderly. Is this really the nation you want your children and your children’s children to live in?
The reason the Republicans have been so successful is they have rage on their side - whenever an issue comes up that challenges their backward beliefs, they scream bloody murder - they have always been the aggressors and we have always been on the defensive, caving in more and more to them each year. Well, now we need to show OUR rage - we need to show the Republicans that they’re not the only ones that are angry, that we have a voice too and that we need to make our voice heard as loud as possible! We need to let the Republicans know that we can’t be pushed around anymore, that we won’t sit back and watch them ruin this great nation!
On November 28, 2014 (Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving), we will all gather at the corner of West Florissant Avenue and Canfield Drive in Ferguson, Missouri (the site of Michael Brown’s death and the protests against racism and police brutality in Ferguson) and we will protest for all the issues we care about and all the things we should have but don’t because of the Republicans. If you can’t make it to Ferguson, feel free to protest anywhere else in America, preferably in a large, public place. Demands will include:
● Free Universal Health Care for All
● Gay Marriage Legalized in All States
● Marijuana Legalized in All States for Recreational and Medicinal Use, All Drugs Decriminalized
● Dramatic Decrease in Military Spending
● No Donations Greater Than $10,000 Dollars from One Individual to One Presidential Candidate (and You Cannot Donate Anonymously)
● Universal Background Checks in All States for Gun Owners (Including at Gun Shows)
● No More States Requiring Photo IDs to Vote
● No More Restrictions on Abortion in Any State
● Police in All Cities in All States Must Wear Body Cameras to Monitor Their Activities
● Any Other Issue You Can Think Of
The protests will not stop until all our demands have been met! It’s time to make the Republicans cave into us, instead of us always caving into them! Share this post with everyone you know who’ll support the causes - we need to get as many people out in Ferguson on Black Friday as possible to show our solidarity, to show that we are not small, that we are not a radical fringe group, but that we are the majority of Americans who are angry with this new wave of ultra-conservative fascism and are ready for some changes to be made! Tell everyone you know and come prepared - if we can get it big enough, this non-violent revolution will be like one giant party that’ll change this nation forever! There may be danger - the Ferguson Police aren’t exactly well known for being accommodating toward protesters - but we shall overcome; we will vastly outnumber them and our voice will ring across the nation and we will let the Republicans know that their end is near, that they can’t keep holding us back forever…
The new American Revolution starts now.

Have we?
As most of the planet isn't part of the USA (you are only 5% of the world's population you know, if by 'America' you mean the USA and not Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, Argentina and all the other countries in the Americas), I think your claims are probably a bit exagerated.
I'm unsure if you think 'the Democrats are better', or if you just think 'the 1960s were better'.

This ego-centrism of people in the US is always a little astounding to me. An imprint from being the hegemon I suppose.

does the op know that for now 6 years the demorats are in power? just saying.
also these demands pretty much call for a nicer opressor, for nicer capitalism, for a polite cop with a smling face(while beating you). a revolution in the sense of a change in the social structure, a change in the economic system and so on isnt called for.

Assuming this isn't spam from the Democrats.
Homicides are down according to official statistic. Background checks wouldn't have stopped the shootings, since many of the perpetrators didn't have criminal records or an official diagnosis of violent delusions. Even then, you'd be calling for the disarmament of a lot of workers who happen to suffer from mental illness(who are not more violent than "sane" people but are more likely to be victims of violence) and workers with criminal records(disproportionally from oppressed minorities) And this does nothing about killer cops.
On abortion, many Democrats voted for the ban on Intact dilation and extraction.
For the progressive tax, Democrats helped take that down too.
Finally, it was Biden and other Democrats who pushed for mandatory minimums that disproportionally affect people of color. Some of the most racist cities like New York, L.A. and Chicago are solid Democrat territory.
Is this really the nation you want your children and your children’s children to live in?Chip away at Democracy? Democracy for who? Not for the poor, women, people of color and immigrants. If anything it's only been really come close in the 60's-70's. They're just trying to bring back the status quo.
The Korean and Vietnam Wars were started by Democrats. Clinton did many "humanitarian interventions himself. A lot of(most?) Democrats voted for the Iraq and Afghan Wars
The reason the Republicans have been so successful is they have rage on their side - whenever an issue comes up that challenges their backward beliefs, they scream bloody murder - they have always been the aggressors and we have always been on the defensive, caving in more and more to them each year. We need to let the Republicans know that we can’t be pushed around anymore, that we won’t sit back and watch them ruin this great nation! The reason there successful is they control the bourgeois state, and doing just that. I agree though we need to show them we're angry, at them and the Democrats! And we won't let them ruin, not the US, but the world!:)

How about disarming the cops.
● Any Other Issue You Can Think Of
I don't know. Abolish capitalism? Worker's control of the means of production? Global revolution? Shit like that?

And don't expect the state to stay peaceful if it did get going.

Republicans - doing and staying stupid shit to make Democrats look "progressive" since 1912. Look how "we won't ban abortion" and "oh my god all the school shootings" became some kind of radical rallying cry in this country among liberals ...

Personally, I think abortions are abominable. I understand this view isn't standard among Leftists, but I view abortion as just part of the Capitalist induced culture of throwing away unnecessary things; conspicuous consumption. Pretty soon there will be abortions of children who aren't tailor fitted to the parent's specifications.
And I fail to see the point about the spam about Republicans. Republicans are, on a scale of 1-100, a 97 in terms of how reactionary they are. The Democrats are like 93. The notion that Republicans are evil and Democrats are good is ridiculous.
The sad thing is, many of the things Republicans claim to love, they actually despise. Take gun ownership. In an Anarchist society gun ownership would be universal almost, since no military would exist, rather militias and national "armies" would replace them. Republicans love when rich white men have guns; not when poor people have guns. Ask for background checks and these ****s will eventually use it against you (You can't own a gun if you are part of a "radical" party).

Achilles, you obviously haven't been here very long, but you will find very quickly that that sort of post is going to get you restricted to the 'Opposing Ideologies' forum. There is basically no tolerance on this board for anti-choice views.

Well I won't dwell on the issue of abortion since I don't want to be reprimanded, but I will quickly reply to this:
Are you a female? Should what you think dictate what women do with their bodies?
A baby isn't some inanimate organ to be removed at will. If you think that, why do you care what a factory owner does to his employees? Its "his" factory. If this were the 18th century you might have a point, but it isn't. There are many safe and easily produced birth control methods that could (and must) be made universally available. Abortion is necessary only if you take the Capitalist economy as a given.

Really? Because a factory is exactly what you just reduced a womans body to. Apparently living people are to be compared to static production objects...as if this would be totally the same thing. It is really a tiny step from here to just declare women incubation chambers.
Abortions are always necessary when a woman wants or needs one for whatever reason.

Well, at least we all know what 'Black Friday' is now. It appeared here last year, but no-one knew what it was. Now if we can only work out when 'Thanksgiving' is, we'll be onto a winner I think.

I won't go the usual sectoralist "well are you a woman" route because you might in fact be a woman, son of Peleus. Or daughter of Peleus. Rather, I am going to ask you: would you volunteer to have an organism grow inside you, causing you pain, discomfort, changes in lifestyle and reduced access to economic and public life for nine months on average, only for the organism to come out of your genitals in a painful and dangerous (and let's not forget degrading process)?
If yes, good for you. But you can't ask (other?) women to do the same.

Personally I find it disgusting that 6000 people die a year in the US waiting for organ donations. Therefore, we should throw out all dignity and bodily autonomy (and a class based analysis, for that matter) and use the state to kidnap people and forcibly remove their organs. After all, dying patients in need of organs are not things to be thrown away, right? Achilles proudly misunderstands the nature of private property ownership (the factory in his example), equating it to a woman having exclusive control of her own body. A woman's body is not going to be expropriated from her and made into public property in socialism, and you are not an oppressed proletarian in relation to her by being denied access to it, as your analogy seems to suggest.

Or maybe three guys with guy fawkes masks show up.No, a lot of shit will happen. Black Friday's when stores have sales and discounts to prepare for the celebration of the birth(according to western Christians) of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It's for Christmas presents. It's called "black" because "in the black" is the name for when a business is making profits, as opposed to "in the red" which is losses. One of the most profitable times of the year.
Well, at least we all know what 'Black Friday' is now. It appeared here last year, but no-one knew what it was. Now if we can only work out when 'Thanksgiving' is, we'll be onto a winner I think.November 27 is the day where Amerikkkans celebrate the Native American genocide by eating turkey and getting drunk with family, or get depress that they have no family and/or can't afford turkey :crying:
