I'm sure everyone has already heard the classic "meat is murder" argument, not that I'm against that. However, the most important reason for me is the resource conservation inherent with a vegan society. Any student of ecology/biology knows the rule of 10, that as 90% of energy is lost to respiration each time a energy moves up a tertiary level. For example, 100 pounds of grain fed to cattle produces 10 pounds of meat. Furthermore, it takes 2,500 gallons of water and 16 pounds of grain to create 1 pound of meat. Does anyone know how much waste that is on the world's scale? Some liberals when mentioned the horrible conditions of industrial meat production and/or the grain usage, say that "grass fed" is the future while maintaining current meat consumption. Pardon my flame, but this is fucking bullshit. That is totally impractical with our population size, more likely, a feeble attempt to maintain a selfish lifestyle.
