Chomsky

I bought "Deterring Democracy" today, cos it was the only Chomsky book I could afford, and also the biggest, so I felt like I was getting value for money. :D

I have to admit though, I didn't really know which Chomsky is the best. Anyone wanna help me out here??

I just read the Chomsky Reader. The material in it is a little dated but it covers Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Vietnam, Cambodia, Loas, Timor, the Middle East and other stuff. The book starts with an interview which is a great introduction to his life and his anarchist beliefs. The book also gets into his theories on language and responsibilities of intellectuals. I like his books but I've always found it funny to imagine him, an anarchist, driving his expensive luxury car.

Profit Over People is invaluable. It exposes the hypocrisy of neo-liberals quite well.

I had read a lot of chomsky's books but I never knew that he was an anarchist before coming here. I got so surpriced that the best factual critiques of global wars shared my political views.

I know some kid that was privileged enough for his school to have Chomsky as a guest speaker. I thought "OMGWTFBBQ?!" since when does the system invite such anarchists into schools? There are reasons that i could see for his appearance, but none the less it is an unexplained but awesome thing to have Chomsky in your school.

Personally I prefer to have the actual book. It's a lot easier to read from a book for long periods that a computer screen. Also you wouldn't be able to bring it anywhere with you.
