This is going to sound odd, but hear me out. I'm not expecting much, but I figured it can't hurt to ask.

I am unhappy where I live. I have many, many reasons that really aren't worth getting into. A lot of it is personal preferences and stuff.

Anyway, I'd really like to relocate "North" to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, or Burlington, Vermont. Or even the Washington DC area. Though if you like your hometown, hit me up and tell me about it.

I am an activist, as are many people on this board, and I'd make a great addition to whatever activist groups you're in. I have been active in Richmond for five years now, so I have some solid experience to bring to your circles.

Unfortunately, I don't have a job or any offers in another city. I am hoping there are some other activists out there who will help me relocate. Perhaps you could get me a job somewhere and know where I can get a room. Perhaps you know someone. Maybe you will let me lie on my applications and say I live at your address when really I don't.

Or maybe you don't want anything to do with me, don't want to know me, don't want to meet me, but have some really good advice on how to relocate to your area. Share that advice.

The thing is, I can't compete with local applicant pools and the only way I can find work elsewhere is to already live there (or look like I live there).

I know I'm a complete stranger from internet-land, and that is really scary. If you'd like to look into me, I can connect with you on Facebook or on here or whatever. I'll prove I am who I say I am.

But, as I said before, I'm not expecting much (or any) help from anyone. This is really unorthodox. But there is no harm in asking just in case there is someone out there who could use someone like me.

Sorry I know this doesn't answer your question, but are you still in SDS, and were you at the national convention this year? And if so, is that at all related to why you want to move to Minneapolis? I was there myself and found it to be pretty damn cold although I am in a Florida chapter of SDS, so that is probably why. Anyway, I like Gainesville, Florida in general, although it definitely isn't northern. There's a nice radical space called the Civic Media Center here.

Go west, young man!

I know a lot of really good, active, large groups in NYC, but it's a pretty pricey city and they're all Marxist-Leninist groups.

I also know a few people up in Seattle and it's considered a very leftist city, littered with anarchist and socialist organizations alike.

Same goes for Portland, but it's mostly filled with the hipster liberal types and I don't think there's quite as much of an abundance of legitimate leftists as there are in Seattle.

No, I graduated in 2013 so I'm not in SDS anymore. That isn't why I want to go to Minneapolis. I just looked into other factors, many of which weren't political. I wouldn't be happy in Florida. Politics and activism are very important to me, but, at the same time, there is more to life than just that.

To Illegalitarian, I can try for Seattle but it's so far away from the East Coast I don't know if it would be practical. I'm open to any bright ideas though if someone can get me to Seattle.
