Where would people say was the biggest city for rap in the U.S.? I think its Detroit, there are so many black ghettos there. Obviously Los Angeles and New York would be the other two contenders.

I would say that anything from the Hieroglyphics (Del, Pep Love, Opio, etc), Living Legends (Murs, Eligh, Grouch, PSC, etc), or Quannum (Blackalicious, Lifesavas, Latryx, etc) areas top my list, although Def Jux is great, too.

Hi,i'm new to this board.
Rap music is the main cause that makes me interested in politics.
I do still listen to Public Enemy,House Of Pain,Beastie Boys,N.W.A.,Afrikaa Bambataa.
There's a new old school rap group known as Black Liberation and Roundtable MC's.
Good leftist lyrics.

I think every type of music has their own socially conscious groups, its just a matter of exploring the various groups or artists and their message.

If you haven't, check out the Mexican group Kontrol Machete. Their insane. Kind of like Suicidal Tendencies but more rap.
FatFreeMilk
14th February 2004, 03:47
hell yeah, kontrol machete kicks ass!
Why does it seem like rap and hiphop is synonymous in this thread? I'm alarmed. People were always telling me there's a big difference...
I don't get enough hip-hop, gosh darnit! I prefer it over rap but I tend to listen to more rap. Songs at the mo:
anything by the ying yang twins
almost every lil jon song
almost any song by the eastside boys
anything by big tymers
and a whole shit load more that I can't think of right now, but I'll remember as soon as I turn on my stereo :)
back that ass by juvenile up is one of my all time favorites
(lyrics are unimportant!)
I said gosh darnit, he he he
