Hello there people,

my name is Alec and I am new to this forum. I am very interested in all form of the arts and philosophy. Literature, music, visual art. Also very interested in the area of government, politics, and social relations.

I am a libertarian socialist; I believe in a very decentralized and minimal government, accumulating of federations of workers councils, trade unions, and direct democratic executive councils. I still have a lot of learning to do but I like to think I've done my research over the years.

I've done A lot of study on religion through the ages: Judaism and the Old Testament, the Rise of Christianity, Gnosticism, Ancient Greek mysteries, paganism, etc. I put Heathen in the title because I identify as an Asatruar, or what some would call an Odinist. Words for a Norse Pagan. I am very much interested in the Occult and esotericism.

My favorite book is probably Paradise Lost, and musically, I listen to a lot of Metal, Folk, Classical, Hard Rock. I am an avid musician. I also like a lot of old 70's classic movies, The Deer Hunter, Taxi Driver. Also a lot of old Grindhouse films.

Anyways, I hope to sharpen my mind once again here, being in early recovery I need to once more dedicate myself to the study of philosophy of all forms.

So I hope to talk with you all here and contribute something positive and constructive!

Thank You!

Oh yeah, my username Sol Invictus means "The Unconquered Sun" in Latin; Sol Invictus was a sun god of the late Roman Empire.

hi, welcome. :)

while totaly not religious myself (as in, i'm an atheist when it comes to the question wheter i believe in god or afterlive etc etc) i have lots of intrest in the cultural aspects of religion, personally not so much with the (norse)pagan stuff (dont know why, maybe with its association here in the netherlands with fash circles) but lots in the more christian/gnostic stuff, judeaism and more esotheric islamic stuff.
love Milton, Blake & Dante and that kind of writing.

Greetings :) It looks like we have quite a few heathens coming here. I also have an interest in occultism and paganism (particularly the Babylonian/Sumerian variety), and I have pretty much the same musical taste. I hope you feel welcome here.

I definitely agree with Marxists in that we share the same end goal, which is Communism, but I do not agree with the Leninist concept of the vanguard party. But I do believe in Marx's dialectical interpretation of history (I think it is the greatest contribution to sociology in recent times) albeit, a non-materialistic agreement.

I have read Das Kapital and the Manifesto. I'll probably go back to reading Capital again.
