I've read that in college, Castro watched videos of Benito Mussolini nonstop to perfect his speaking style.
He would go to a mirror and try to mimick Mussolini's every move after seeing a speech. He'd then go back, watch the movie, and see how well he had done in comparison to Mussolini.

...Interesting.

Castro has been speaking for 50+ years now. At his stage in the game, I hardly think that he needs to look to such amatures for advice on public speaking.

1959:

Alberto Korda was only 32 years old when he took the famous photograph of Che Guevara which was to capture the imagination and hearts of revolutionaries around the world. A year earlier, in 1959, he was with Fidel Castro and Che on the golf course in Havana.

It was at the suggestion of Fidel that Che agreed to the game. Our understanding from a conversation with Korda is that Fidel had just read in the New York Times that Eisenhower had spent an entire day on the golf course. He asked Che, “Why would the President of the United States take time out from the business of the country to play a game of golf? Why does he not spend his time on education or agriculture?”

Che suggested that they do both and in the end they did. According to Korda, they had fun, but they did talk about important issues. Che was the better golfer, but Fidel won the game.
