Is this gonna be one of those overstated sensitive teen films?? I hope so. I love that trash.

I don't know what Converge is, and can you give more examples of these types of films?
Hey, I don't know what Elephant is either. I'm out of the loop.

Do you people live under a rock??

Converge (http://www.convergecult.com) is forgivable I guess. They're a chaotic/experimental/kinda emo/metalcore band from Boston whose vocalist writes intensely passionate and deeply poetic lyrics about this girl he's been in love with more or less since the band's inception in 1991. Their live shows are pretty unrivalled in terms of emotion and onstage catharsis, not to mention excellent, technical yet brutally emotional music. And they're my favourite band, although they did really compromise themselves by signing to Epitaph last month.

To not have heard of Elephant however, you must be seriously out of the loop. It's a rather quirky film about a high school massacre (loosely based on Columbine). From the reviews I read, it sounds like it belongs the Requiem for a Dream school of depressing arty romance flicks.

I'd like to see Elephant, but not sure how it's going to turn out like.

I got to see Elephant last Friday night. It was a disturbing picture.

The film introduces us to a number of characters, gets us to feel for them... for their humanity, and then they are killed sadistically by the once picked-on and now gun-toting outcasts.

There are no winners. The deaths are pointless. The only feeling I was left with was one of great tragedy... the loss of life, of human potential... was unnecessary, pointless, and stupid. And I think that was entirely the point of the filmmakers.

I'll readily admit that I'm completely out of the loop concerning any modern happenings in the mass culture markets whatsoever.

I would have made my own thread, but thought I would just resurrect this one.

I saw this film recently. I think it very good. The problems I had with it are that for some of the shootings it cut before you saw them get shot. The three girls in the toilet who were throwing their lunches up and the couple right at the very end; in both cases it cut to another picture before you see them get shot.

Also, it would have been more enjoyable to see them go through Plan A, but they had to switch to plan B.

It was also quite short, possibly because their buget was not big enough to make it go on for longer.

And, why did one of the shooters murder his friend at the end?

I just saw Elephant, it so disturbing, i felt like i was watching a horror movie.

It is very well directed, Gua van Sant proofs himself to be a genious again. It is a very "artie" film and that is the wright format for a movie like this....this is gonna be one of those movies that dosn't get the attention that is diserves.

One of those movies that film-students are going to be watching.

And did you know that all the teenage actors in the movie are most first time actors and there names in the movie are same as in real life.

I just got done watching this film and I have mixed feelings about it. It is largely based on Columbine and attempts to paint a portrait of every day high school life. Overall I thought that the film was overdramatic and in need of serious editing (like half the movie is just scenes of people walking around with no dialouge) even though the movie was only a little over an hour long. Still it was better than most of the garbage that comes out of hollywood.

He uses camera effects very sparingly which makes them all the more effective. Some excellent use of slow motion in a couple of places whilst the students are walking around. It is slightly boring to see them walking around, but it is an integral part of the film. I think we are meant to get to know them slightly before they get shot. I would have liked to see those three girls get shot, they were really annoying, talking about crap all the time.

I think it was based on Columbine, but there are a lot of differences. For example, in Columbine they went bowling before the massacre. Also, it was sort of stupid that they had to switch to plan B in the film, why? what was the point of that?

Probably one of the worst films I have EVER seen. Even eurotrip and club dread were better.

Two things about this film that were just fucked up; the part where the two killers get into the shower together and start making out and at the end when one of the killers blows away the othe rone for no apparent reason.
