Hey there! I'm Trickster. I'm extremely new to the left, just started getting involved and reading about it within the past few months. I was a Libertarian for several years, but came into multiple conflicts with their ideas as to how we should treat different classes, among other things. So I kept researching, and that led me to anarchy.
So I guess I identify most strongly with anarcho-communism. This is the first time I've actually joined a community like this; the only other real anarchists (real meaning, not capitalist and not using a misinterpretation of the word anarchy as an excuse to needlessly break the law and hurt other people) I know in RL is my older brother. I'm in an area that's pretty Republican/Libertarian, and as far as I know, there aren't any RL anarchist orgnaizations in my town. Maybe I'll start one lol.
Anyways, that's all I can think to say :3 I'm glad to be here and look forward to getting to know all of you ^^

What draws you away from Marxism and into "anarcho-communism"?

Welcome to Revleft.
I'm a Marxist, but I think one of the standard anarcho-communists text is Kropotkin's The Conquest of Bread. I've never read it, but I'm throwing it in here as a suggestion just in case. It's good your brother is an anarchist too as being a radical can be a bit isolating sometimes, so places like revleft are really necessary to share experiences even if we do fall out occasionally.
At a guess, I think the move from libertarianism to anarchism is a natural progression as they both have a 'natural law'/'natural rights' philosophy but disagree on how far those rights can go and the relationship between property and rights (but I'm really guessing and filling in the blanks at this point). I think there are a couple of ex-libertarians on here and revleft is fairly solidly in the libertarian left, so you should be fine. I hope you enjoy your time here. :)

You'd be surprised where there are irl anarchists/anarchist organizations!
e.g. (http://tucsonabc.wordpress.com/)
I'm also a libertarian communist. A member of my close organizational circle came from a similar background to you - ie - right-wing pro-market "libertarianism".
You might not be a bald with a beard though. See him in action here (http://halifax.mediacoop.ca/video/beyond-trap-electoral-politics-part-1/31211).
ALSO! Welcome! I hope you find the board useful.

Thank you everyone! ^^
As for what draws me to anarchy instead of Marxism... Well, I really just started exploring politics, so I won't say that something won't talk me out of anarchy. But in general, I like the idea of a stateless society, as I feel the state perpetuates discrimination and classism, and I think power over other people tends to corrupt people. I highly value freedom and I believe everyone should be free to make their own decisions and have control over their own choices, as long as they continue to give back to a society that gives to them. That being said, though, I don't know a lot about Marxism at all, so I'll probably have to read a little more about it :p
I've heard of the Conquest for Bread, thank you for reminding me about it! I'll have to check it out and read it. I haven't read any of the 'standard' literature, so most of what I know has been told to me by other anarchists, either my brother or reading a lot online. I'm bedridden for the next couple of weeks because of an illness, so it's the perfect time to get a lot of this reading done lol. And yeah... it's definitely kinda lonely... but that's what the internet is for.
Good to know I'm not the only ex-Libertarian around. I already felt different because I didn't fit well into a two-party system...
The name Black Cross is extremely familiar to me, I think I've heard it passed around in my town, so there might be an organization close by! I have looked around on the internet, and I know there USED to be some organizations about, but a lot of them look like they haven't been active since the end of the Occupy movement...
Thank you all again ^^ I've only been here for a bit, but I already really like the boards. It's awesome to finally be around like-minded people!
