I'm interested in discussing interventions as activity for communists. I recently read this "case study" (http://libcom.org/forums/organise/intervention-class-struggle-case-study-tekel-icc-31082010), put together by Dervim on Libcom, with great interest. But this is just one group's practice - do other groups have a different practice? I'm thinking here both how practically the intervention is done, and what kind of social struggles communists can/should intervene in.

In other words: what do interventions practically entail? What are its advantages and disatvandages - in which case: as opposed to what kind of activity? Do someone on here have practical experience with this kind of activity?

It's an interesting topic you've brought up - it's almost too broad to approach, though.
Trying to think about how "organizing" and "intervening" might be different (or not) is interesting. Or, the relationship between them seems like it warrants some clarification in terms of strategy (eg to what degree do interventions produce organization, and how do organizations intervene?).
I'm also interested in the different forms that intervention could take - like, tactical questions. Might an attack speak to people more effectively than a leaflet? A BBQ more effectively than a contingent at a demonstration?

I wish I had something more interesting to offer, but I hope some other folk pick up on this thread.
