Hello everyone.
I've been looking around this forum for some time and finally decided to register because this is pretty much the only way for me to discuss leftist politics and philosophy as I don't know anyone in real life who shares my interests. I'm from Germany, 18 years old and had an interest in leftism since I was in elementary school (my mother used to be very politically active when she was the age that I am now and my father grew up in the GDR and that had a huge influence on me I guess). I visited my first anti-fascist demonstration when I was 11 or 12 years old which was a bad idea because I almost got beat up by some crazy nazis and yea after that I kinda lost interest in all that and politics in general (even though when asked I still identified as "anarcho-communist" because that sounded like a good thing to me and I didn't know anything about the theory behind it) until I was 17. I started reading the Communist Manifesto and loved it and through it got a general interest in politics and history. Soon after I started identifying as a marxist. That was almost 2 years ago and since then I read a lot and through the months and years read about and found interest in multiple different leftist currents. I'm still not sure on where I stand, but my main influences are pretty "orthodox" Marxism-Leninism (more on the Stalinist side of things, Mao is pretty cool too) and the critical theory of the Frankfurt School, but I too have some interest in more unorthodox writers and currents like Foucault, Gilles/Deleuze, situationism and value criticism.
I hope to be able to contribute something worthwhile to this forum and hope to have some interesting discussion with all of you. :)

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

What attracts you to 'Marxism-Leninism'?

I hope that you make the step from Stalinism ("Marxism-Leninism") to Marxism.

Welcome though! Have fun here.

And how do you really combine value-criticism and ML-ism? Aren't both tendecies/theories standing rather oppositely?
