Hello everyone, I am new to leftist online spaces and relatively new to leftist theory (being a deconvert from religion and conservatism). I am firm in my leftist thinking, being inspired by the likes of such myriad icons as George Orwell, John Steinbeck, H.G. Wells, Karl Marx, Steven Pinker, and Ernesto Guevara. I am a self-professed Democratic Socialist who believes that capitalism has worn out its usefulness and should be discarded for a better and more humanistic political economy (socialism). I am earnest in my hatred of this exploitative economic system and despise the ideologies that support it. I am always looking for new theories and ideas and try my best to keep an open mind and am aware that I could be wrong about many things.

Welcome!

By "democratic socialism," do you mean reformist socialism, or revolutionary socialism with a particular emphasis on democracy?

By Democratic Socialism i mean I am literally a democratic socialist. I think reform can be used effectively at the moment (in the U.S.) But I do not discount revolution as a legitimate method in very specific and extreme circumstances. Practically I am a Democratic Socialist and associate myself with D.S.A. But I may technically be a mix between a traditional Socialist and Anarcho-Syndicalist in terms of my philosophical sentiments. I just think Democratic Socialism is the way forward for the U.S. at the moment.
