Feels less like real life and more like something you'd see in Grand Theft Auto. They really have got to re-think the amount of weaponary in use by police and on the streets in the US.

It's very disturbing. One minute the guy was walking around and talking, the next he was lying in a pool of his own blood, his life fading and flashing before his eyes. He very possibly might have been mentally disabled or homeless. Just another victim of the class war and cold capitalism.

You can't see what happens between the guy and the police in the video- the article says the guy started weilding a knife at the cops [though the video shows him trying to walk round them on the ledge?]- but what you can tell is just how quickly you go from the cops showing up to the shooting (about 20-30 seconds). it's pretty clear shooting on sight is the default setting. It might be a Suicide by Cop, but they made it really easy. :(

Indeed this is the most disturbing thing. Instead of, I dunno, assessing the situation and trying to calm down the victim they just waltz in and shoot. This is completely fucked up and there's no way they can pretend that they are performing that liberal role of 'protecting the people' with shit like this going on.
