Vulture capitalist scumbag Paul Singer holds Argentina hostage with decade old vulture funds. (http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-08-07/argentinas-vulture-paul-singer-is-wall-street-freedom-fighter)

"How does a New Yorker help tip over the second-largest economy in South America a few weeks before his 70th birthday? By being stubborn, self-righteous, clever, and willing to take his decade-long fight against the country to a Las Vegas court, a Ghanaian seaport, weapons warehouses in Maryland, and at least two rocket launches."

For all intents and purposes, this one man has a gun made of dollar bills pointed at Argentina's head.

But Argentina don't care it at all. They aren't going to pay. The rating agencies announced a 'selective default', but it has no influence on Argentinian economy. So 'it's much ado about nothing'.

This situation is very telling about the Economic Climate we live in, where everything is for sale and money controls everything. I find it ironic however that most people dismiss the notion that America is simply a plutocracy, even when the facts are clear as day, yet we can directly see financial institutions destroying countries the world over through nothing more than financial policy.

At some point the market must be reigned in, we've simply let this grand experiment of laissez-faire go on too long. It was a nice idea, however we have a century of evidence to show how it does significantly more damage than good. Time to go back to the ol' drawing board if you ask me. We are long overdue.
