So, when my wife and I go out, we struggle to find any good restaurants in Portland. We've found one Vietnamese place we like and one Mexican food joint that we enjoy, as well. The Red/Black Cafe had some good food, too, but we're not in that area enough to justify going there every time we want to go out some where. Anyone have any recommendations?

Side: We've given up on bbq in Portland or the Portland area. No one here who professionally cooks bbq can do it well. The "best" place in Portland served food that would have been home at a third-rate chain restaurant back in Texas, and at prices that no restaurant in Texas would charge except at the fanciest joints. I'm disappointed here, but sufficiently disabused from the notion that there may be some good bbq joints around here to not even try it any further.

start trying out some of the foodcarts down town, make a day of it maybe, brunch, late lunch, and dinner and report back, I hardly ever eat outside my diet plan so I am unable to give specific suggestions although I would recommend you check out belmont station for beer their pumpkin ales and other autumn seasonal beers should be coming out pretty soon and the pumpkin ales in particular make for great cool weather 'holiday' food pairings

there are probably a lot of sites breaking down the best food carts in the city

we've been to several food pods; the cartlandia one, one on n. mississippi and a couple others. wasn't too impressed.

are there any good b&m restaurants you would suggest? does belmont station have good entrees? i don't drink alcohol.

eta. i've gotten to a massive point of mistrust with yelp, also.

sadly I can only think of pubs and stuff that will probably have pub food but good beer, I don't drink now either

as long as it's not a mcmenamin's pub, i'll try it. my wife still drinks ever so often.

I like going to Tim Horton's a whole lot but I also like Tiki lounges, Chuck E Cheese, Dave & Busters, and that rainforest themed kids restaurant as well.

there was one rainforest cafe that i know of, and that was in a houston mall. i keep asking my wife if we could go to chuck e cheese's but she writes me off like i'm joking. :( times are tough, man.

I usually argue that Chuck E Cheese is cheaper than D&B but if that fails too, you just say D&B is almost as good and you still can get prizes but it's technically adult. I'm glad someone else like putting significant others in awkward spots. :) it is pretty fun
