DOHUK, Iraq — The United States launched a series of airstrikes against Sunni militants in northern Iraq on Friday, using Predator drones and Navy F-18 fighter jets to destroy rebel positions around the city of Erbil, the American military said Friday.
The strikes were aimed at halting the advance of militants with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria toward Erbil, the Kurdish capital, which is home to a United States Consulate and thousands of Americans.

Just for reference, Erbil is about 200km from Shingal. Should give a sense of how many fires there are in Iraq right now.

Here we go again. Isn't it quite a bummer to think about? No matter the outcome, countless will die and with no real change occurring. :glare:

American jets are bombing American tanks captured by a militia paid with American dollars while it was rampaging across Syria.

Seems like a desperate attempt to save their Zionist Kurd puppets while at the same time stampeding Islamic State back towards Syria to overthrow Assad. I sincerely hope that it doesn't work.

They managed to down a few Syrian jets last year. It would make my day if they shot some F-18s out of the sky.

Let cease calling the terrorist fighters: "militants". That term is best limited to the 60's and 70's when referring to anti-war, civil rights, student protesters and demonstrators. They did not slaughter and behead innocent people. Militants'weapons were signs and chants. To call members of ISIS "militants" is to sugar-coat what they actually do.

Interesting statements from one of those propagandists of the Islamic State in the West. It seems that the airstrikes are now playing right into the Islamic State's hands and are accelerating its factional dominance over the old Al-Qaeda

With the first US airstrike on IS ,rationale for continued existence of al Qaeda outside the Islamic State will be null & void

Also to AQ affiliates who were not forthcoming publicly about their stance on the Islamic State, they would have to finally speak.

Coz if you are AQ,and you don't have a public opinion about a Crusader attack on a jihadi state, it is time for you to pack up and go home.

Thanks Obama. From now on,doesn't matter Zawahiri/Jolani/some other cartoon, anybody who is against IS should be considered in the US camp.

Kurdish forces should secure all Kurdish land and declare independence. After that, the Communists can begin taking power. For now we are on the same side, but nothing big can happen in our favour until the national liberation process is complete.

Many right-wingers use the word "comrade", as do many left-wingers. Should left-wingers stop using that term as well?
