I recently got hired at Target and we had to watch a bunch of videos for the job. One of them was Target's anti-union video.
I was wondering what your thoughts, feelings..etc on the video are.

It's just an anti-union video, it's commonplace the bosses would want to prevent a workers union.

Yeah, it's completely common in non-union stores. I had to watch a similar thing, when I got hired at Walmart years ago. I find this sorta ironic though, for the liberal hipsters. Who shop at Target "cause it's not Walmart". Needless to say, it's a bullshit video. I've worked in both non-union (Walmart), and union (Meijer) retail. Both sucked, but having a union is still better than not having one.

Well even the UFCW for a long time promoted Target as a sort of "better alternative" for folks to shop at compared to Walmart. Then of course just a few years ago, UFCW Local 1500 (in Long Island) had a union election at a Target, and Target of course was quite intense with their anti-union campaign (and the NLRB ruled that they violated multiple labor laws in the process).
I recently got hired at TargetAfter you work there for a bit, I highly recommend trying to form a committee there to organize your Target. Places like Target are important to organize because the ripple effect on the broader retail industry could be huge.

I have seen these videos before at places where I was hired. It was difficult for me to stifle laughter at how over-the-top they were.

I live in the UK and I've never seen a video like that before. I've had a string of employers over the years and not once have they distributed any kind of anti-union propaganda (not that most of them need to, union activity is generally very weak over here).
I love that they kept referring to the unions taking the employees' "hard earned money", while at all other times the work at Target was described as "fast, fun, and friendly".
I'd like to think that the dishonest tactics used would be obvious to everyone, but I'm not that much of an optimist. For example, their graph showed that "fifty years ago one out of every three workers was in a union" and that "today, excluding government workers, that number has dropped to less than one in ten".
I'm curious whether the OP in a union, or plans to join one (assuming you don't mind answering)?
One last point: calling customers "guests" is just stupid. Stop it, Target.

I don't give a shit if you're a poor actor, you're a shitty class traitor if you act in one of these videos. It's easier to get a job at Target than an acting gig anyway, so do that.
Some people. :cursing:

You got paid to sit and watch this. The union doesn't exist yet and you're already getting time off from doing proper work. Progress!

I saw that exact same video when I worked at target a few years ago. Funny detail -- those actors in that video are union.

"I'm Dawn and I'm Ricardo, the token minorities. We're here to tell you that putting notes in an idea box that gets dumped into a shredder everyday is much better than joining a union."
