I haven't run into many of them, but when I find them, they tend to be the funniest kind... mostly because they hit so close to home that I'd cry if I didn't laugh.

This is my favorite bit like this:

Does anyone else have any similar experiences or bits they could share?

That was great. What he said about being so broke you start to find it funny is so true. I don't know his background but he must have been in that situation at some point or he couldn't know about that.

I have a half-relevant personal anecdote: years ago I was standing in the kitchen in front of a piece of bread (the one piece of bread was the only food in the kitchen apart from salt and maybe dry cereal). My mother was standing next to me and we were saying -
''oh no it's okay, you can have the bread''
''oh no, you deserve it more''
''well I didn't really want the piece of bread anyway''
''well you know I prefer white bread''
''but I think I had the piece of bread last time''
''but I dropped a piece on Monday''
''why don't we half the bread?''
''I'm sure the bread's past the use by date anyway''
''I'll only eat the bread if you promise to eat next week's Last Food in the Kitchen''
And then we realised how ridiculous the whole situation was and started laughing hysterically. I don't remember who ate the bread.
