Hey ya'll, I just joined the other day.
I live in the united states in the pacific northwest. I used to consider myself an anarchist, but i started reading a lot more a couple years ago, when i got fired from my job and then, later, injured a couple of years ago and did it to keep myself from losing my mind and I've been devouring nonfiction ever since!
It turns out i really like Marx, and find myself a little turned off by a lot of anarchism, especially the moralistic aspects of it. I'm kind of interested in left communism, but I'm kind of still figuring all that out. I just call myself a communist these days, and I'm not really sure what to do with my political convictions, because so far it's nothing.
I'm still getting a hang of this site, but I hope I'll come to like this place and its members!
Welcome :)

Hey, welcome.

What moralistic aspects are you referring to? Anarchism doesn't need any ethical viewpoint. Ethics is thus superfluous.

Thx for the welcome, everyone! I'm all healed up, but still as into reading as I was before.
To clarify what I mean, anarchism definitely doesn't need any moralism, but some self-described anarchists seem to be more interested in moral purity, which is also described as "lifestylism". Some take it so far as to think that anarchism is about only shopping for fair-trade goods at co-ops, and distancing oneself from what they see as immoral business practices; pacifism/nonviolence is another thing that really bothers me, which are kind of bourgeois views, in my opinion. It seems to be much more of a west-coast US thing.
Most of my leftist friends are anarchists, and I still think lots of anarchism is totally rad, and to be honest I think anarchism vs. marxism is a false dichotomy. I'm about equally into both, really.
