Anyone see the game??? What a great game, I never thought the Panthers didn't have a shot but I was wrong. It could have ended better though (I was hoping they would somehow not get good field goal position or have it blocked/miss).

I didnt watch most of the game, on account that Independance Day (the movie) was on another channel, so I watched that (I can't resist Alien movies)

I did see the last 5 minutes (waiting for the Simpsons, which they never aired  ), and from the score, It looked like a REALLY close game.

Perhaps so, but I find Rugby comletely boring.

Go Pats. I thought this would be a really boring SuperBowl, but I was wrong. It was good. I wish there would have been overtime.

Fuck man.I was pissed that Carolina lost.
1.I always want the under dog to win (unless its against my team)
2.I didn't want the "Patriots" to win ;) ;)

Good game though....

You wont belive what BBC1 showed when that gridiron game was on

A film called "Black Sunday", where these terrorists try to blow up the Superbowl!

I watched the first few minutes of the gridiron game (even though i know nothing about the game) ans i was neutral as to who would win. They showed it on Channel 5.

BTW, the film was utter crap, and looked really old.

Also, total agreement with COTR (my grandmothers from Wigan, so i'm naturally going to like rugby).

Hooray! I suppose this IS Opposing Ideologies after all... Rugby is INFINITELY superior to American Football!! Although I'm afraid I don't support Wigan; COME ON YOU WASPS!!!

But International Rugby is best, roll on the Six Nations!!

England have nothing if it wasnt for johnny wilkonson's kicking ability. Australia will win next year.

Nonsense. We have a great scrum, talented backs AND a good kicker.

Here begins a new era of English dominance in all things rugby!!

Yeah...bastards won....grrr
Good ass game though...not like the previous ass-whooping Super Bowls. What was up with Carolina's D? They had a chance to go OT but they blew it....

Are the Patriots and Carolina amongst America's best Gridiron teams?

Being a New Englander, I couldn't be happier. The Pats had one hell of a season. 15 straight wins and a record of 17-2, second only to the '72 Miami Dolphins. It was a fun game to watch, although it brought me close to a heart attack a couple of times. Two Super Bowl victories in 3 years...maybe a dynasty in the making.

One question though... Why does everyone always want the New England teams to lose? I've never really understood it.

There's a big rally and parade today in Boston that they expect will draw over a million on City Hall Plaza.

As far as football being a sissy version of rugby, I don't think that you can really appreciate how fast and strong the players are, or the speed and viciousness of the hits in football unless you see a game in person. Remember, because they are wearing pads, the hits are much harder. I had a friend who played a season with that Pats as a strong safety (before being cut) years ago. He was about 6' 5", 270 lbs, could bench press 350 pounds 30 times straight (won the strength contest at training camp), and he told me that the hits that the professionals put on you, are similar in feel to a bad car accident, and that it never lets up. Every hit is like that. He said it wasn't like anything he experienced in high school or college football.

Sounds like you're the Man Utd of America - we in england always want them to lose if we dont support them

They have salary caps here in the States (btw I do watch some european soccer) and most teams are pretty even, it's not like in the european countries when one team is godlike i.e arsenal and man ut., and the rest don't stand a chance because they generate more money then them. That is, in all sports except for baseball.

Incorrect, boston teams always lose not win. Most people want the boston teams to win and the yanks and other dynasty teams to lose.

I know New England/Boston teams lose most of the time. I've just noticed that a lot of people wanted to see the Pats lose the Bowl for some reason this year. They did against the Rams too.

I was going for the Patriots.
Because of their name.
Not that I am a patriot, but in that context, the connotation of "patriot" is American revolutionary, yes?
Not that i support any aspect of the US revolution, even in it's earliest days it was damned for capitalism.
But any revolution agaisnt a monarchy is a good one.
So that's why I'm happy with the results.
Not that i watched the game.
I watche the half-time, however, and the music sucked.
Janet was sexy, though. :)
