How do you apply your political beliefs to your everyday life? I've always been attracted to the practical side of leftism more than the theoretical (sorry Revlefters!) so I'm curious about what members do to put their ideas into practice.

- Are you members of political parties?
- Members of other groups?
- Antifa people?
- Do any work for 'issues' e.g. LGBT stuff?
- Attend any events or protests?
- DIY?
- Other activities?
- Is there anything you don't do because of your political beliefs? Things you avoid.

I go to marches once in a while. I get to see old friends and get to know how much have their politics worsen.

Several times a year, I attend demonstrations, mostly against deportations, fascism, pro-life lunatics etc. And I regularly attend an autonomous venue in the nearby town that defines themselves as anti-fascist, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-antisemitic, anti-homophob, far left etc. Mostly I go there because of DIY hardcore punk shows, but I also know plenty antifa people from there and go there for other stuff like workshops, exhibitions, demonstrations organized by them. It's great to have a space to be among likeminded people, because nowhere else here can I be sure to meet a lot of people with similar beliefs at only one place. The town I life in is very conservative and several "famous" nazis come from here. Things I don't do...I don't eat meat and eggs and most of the time, I avoid dairy, but sometimes I'm an inconsequent douche and buy ice cream that contains dairy, but that happens rather seldom.

I'm a member of the Committee for a Workers International. I spent a short amount of time on one of the US campaigns a few months back. Most of the stuff I do is centered around attempting to build a branch. I recently attended the summer school (it ended yesterday actually). When I get back home I hope to organize some meetings in our local community centers surrounding 15 now. We participate in local events and all that jazz (whenever there are any that is, which is rare), university tabling, etc.

I plan on joining the school newspaper and writing Marxist oriented articles (yes, somehow I got permission, it's a long story).

I speak to people, I spread the word among friends and get them to spread the word among other friends, I try to select nations that will let me get my viewpoint across in MUN, I write stories that try to show people my views, and I always make my social views none, tackling bigots or entitlement of the wealthyers whenever I see them. When the current is strong enough for me to bring up my economic views, I do so.

Not much, I've tried so hard to organize things where I live and I swear I live in the most apathetic void of political energy, culture, and creativity on the Earth. It's impossible to start anything.

I'm vote third party where I can (not that I think the Green Party is going to change the world, but I think using a third party to try and influence some kind of moderate change in the social democratic system as long as it's here is better than nothing). The only established local parties here are the Democrats and Republicans, I think. Nothing left of Democrats, I know that for a fact.

I honestly don't know what to do, other than try and talk to people where and when I can and spread awareness of basic concepts like the Theory of Surplus Value/how your boss steals WAYYY more than taxes "steal", economic democracy, etc. But that's just spreading the seeds here and there. That's about it.

"- Are you members of political parties?"

Not any more, although a lot of Democratic fund-raisers do not seem to have received the message.

"- Members of other groups?"

Yes, but nothing relevant to this forum.

"- Antifa people?"

A bit hard to find around here since most folks don't really know what fascism is or recognize its warning signs.

"- Do any work for 'issues' e.g. LGBT stuff?"

Not really.

"- Attend any events or protests?"

Events, I suppose, but nothing relevant to this forum.

"- DIY?"

A little.

"- Other activities?"

Sure, but nothing relevant to this.

"- Is there anything you don't do because of your political beliefs? Things you avoid."

Try to avoid buying from anti-labor, anti-secular, and anti-environmental companies. When possible, I avoid Chinese and Israeli goods.

I do graffiti. Mostly in bathroom stalls. Lots of big sickle n' hammers, slogans like "Read Marx/Study Lenin" or "Workers Arise!".

.....Hey, there isn't a whole lot of outlets for revolutionary socialism here in the ass-end of the South.

I'd like to do something...but I don't know what that would be. I am currently going to school and working so its not like I have time to be traveling everywhere but I would love to be a part of a local group. I just don't know how to find them or where they are. :(

Thanks for the replies. Yelling at unemployment office people is always commendable.

Now I really want to know where this is just so that I can never ever go there.
