I'm not surprised, that doesn't even compare to Henry Kissinger winning the Nobel Peace Prize. One would be hard pressed to top that, maybe Hitler winning a peace prize..

How can a man who waves war in the name of 'freedom' win a peace prize? All he brought is death, destruction and unsettling speechs...how can a man who said the mexican language be in charge of the most powerful country in the world!

He won it in 1973. If you just type in "Henry Kissinger wins Nobel Peace Prize" in Google, there are a ton of articles that mention it in the very first results. And apparently I have found out that Adolf Hitler did come close to winning the prize in 1938. Jimmy Carter, Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, and Yasser Arafat have also won it. The Nobel Peace Prize is a complete joke.

How does the nominee work? how do you get nominated? Is it the Nobel organisation who picks out the candidates?
Anyone who know?

"When we talk about war, we're really talkin 'bout peace."
What evil force has compelled the people behind the decision-making process for this award, to give it to a man who, not only wages war for the sake of waging war, but also WANTS "Mini-Nukes?"
Hey, it may be just me, but isn't the Nobel Prize rather elitist? It creates a group of people who pride themselves over others, because they have won a simple distinctive award?
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I see the whole thing as another pillar of Elitism.

Orwell would have loved this: "War Is Peace, Slavery Is Freedom, etc.".

Right now I'm working on a paper, that makes a case for Chile to sue the U.s. for reperations due to kissingers actions ther in the early 70's. To even be considered for a peace prize they should look at the number of bodies at your feet.

According to the article SoR posted it looks like Bush and Blair have both been nominated by the same knucklehead from the Swedish Conservative Party. It's obviously just partisan politics and I believe, or perhaps I should say hope, that the selection comittee is intelligent enough to realize it. Although the case against them is rather weak, I hope the co-nominees the European Union won't win it either. After all, they really haven't done much to rectify the situation in Northern Ireland. This is especially dismaying since the president of the EU is Irish.
