I'm a high school student in a very liberal thinking community where critical thinking and free-thought are very much supported. I have a job in a local organic grocery store which helps me when discussing labor and wages because I've experienced it first hand.
My tendencies are still a bit broad. In general I'd consider myself an Anarchist, though I still like communism and other leftist ideologies.
I like to read books. I've read Chomsky, Orwell, and Kropotkin. But I have also read works from Lenin, Marx, and Trotsky. (I also like to read fiction such as Game of Thrones and The Lord of The Rings :grin:)
I want to become a sociologist as a career and be a philosopher as a sort of hobby, basically anything that uses critical thinking as a tool is what I'm interested in.
My goal before leaving high school is to start a student union but with no specific ideology in mind.

And honestly being afraid of the state apparatus is the first step towards capitulation. Let's be real this is at most a theoretical discussion board. @dascomrade: the only thing you have to worry about being blacklisted for as a communist is being an official of one of the major American parties or certain security clearances. Outside of that you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who cares. And even then that is if you do some real activism not just post on revleft.

You're trolling right? Let me guess, you were about to use guilt by association to Anarchists? Oh boy this'll be fun! (I'm only joking).

No I am not an Anarchist. I am simply myself. If you don't quite get the advanced nature of not following a particular ideology then PM me, although discussing it here might help DasComrade understand some of my suggestions to him if he doesn't already.

As for names, in a society that had been upgraded to use every shred of information for marketing, that will use anything it can to keep you in line in a subversive way, I think not posting names seems like a simple safety measure to stop you getting bitten easily later on. Especially by malicious people who could be on this site (DasComrade's RL contacts could find out and shut off avenues of advancement for example). You can't be sure, so take some easy precautions and then forget about the whole issue until something worrying pops up.

Or you could just have a false sense of security in the face of a civilisation that has a history of torturing people, killing them (or worse) etc. for being different. Quite a lot is possible even if it is unlikely.

Plus we have usernames, why the hell do we need to use our real ones anyway?!

Edit: note to people taking things at face value (which I understand as online conversation tends to restrict inference), the words "advanced nature" are meant in jest, as a joke in line with the sarcasm slinging.

Oh you're one of those "I'll throw post-modern words at things I don't understand instead of asking for clarification types"? How amusing!

I'm not "post-ideology", I'm just not conformist to certain kinds of ideology. Technically I have an ideology, but the meaning of the word changes here (there are multiple meanings). This links in with why I'm asking DasComrade to not pigeonhole himself and remain open to get the best opportunities.

Well stick around and eventually you'll develop your own style, as there is no fixed way of talking about politics except for the unwritten commandment termed "Thou shalt not be a jackass." In other words, attack a person's arguments and not their persona. It's the most practical thing to do if you want a dialogue with someone!

Oh and there are certain things you can't talk about or you run the risk of being restricted. But that's (supposedly) for the benefit of users who aren't interested in that restrict-able stuff, except to criticise it.
