Anyone here knowledgeable on what psychogeography is? How this examination of geographical spaces and their effects on the peoples' minds has worked?

I was hoping for a subjective viewpoint from someone who has actually experienced activities related to psychogeography. Thanks anyway. Interesting how some psychogeographers have ended up stirring occult/mystical terminology into their practice.

i mean, i read some stuff by debord and wim t. schippers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wim_T._Schippers) on it and everything and i can see how it was influential in the 60's breaking out of the 50's but there is not much shocking to it in this day and age, its all rather an artsyfartsy "conceptual" approach to something i consider basic common sense.

So basically psychogeography has been recuperated. Which would explain some of the occult stuff creeping into it and the lack of emphasis on the total negation of society etc.

I'm not sure it was recuperated, I think it probably never had much interest to begin with and has just kind of slowly faded out. Like Sasha said, the idea that things like architecture can have a psychological effect on people is kind of common sense now. I'm interested in psychogeography I've just never pursued it for some reason. I'm under the impression that savage messiah was a UK zine dedicated to studying it in that country, you might wanna check and see if there's an archive available online, all I can find is a book that looks like it combines everything into one volume.
