Exactly what it says on the tin. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/10/mary-phillips-98-evicted_n_5573150.html) A 98-year old woman is being evicted from her home of 50+ years under the Ellis act, which allows landlords to evict tenants, temporarily shut down a rental property and then sell it at a profit.

Keep in mine, this lady has never been late on her rent. She has ALWAYS paid it on time.

But here's the best part: You can go to the link provided and get the bourgie scum's phone number. ;)

What can I say...except that this is one of those blatantly obvious cases of the irrational, exploitative nature of private property. "Naked, shameless, direct, brutal" indeed.

Truly is shameful. I guess all the proud "progressives" in that city are just poseurs.

This is appalling but it doesn't surprise me.

There is still an element of genuine progressiveness in San Francisco but, as with a lot of cities, it has become extremely gentrified in a short space of time. When the hippies moved in during the summer of love, a lot of them shared the old victorian houses because they were cheap - now they cost millions of dollars. In fact, I've heard the whole city is now impossible to live in if you're poor because rents are so expensive. It's sad.
