Yo, I'm an Australian revolutionary.

I identify with contemporary Trotskyist views and am a member of my local Socialist Alternative branch. I wouldn't say we're the biggest Marxist group in Australia, but we're quite vocal and militant.

Personally I'm very critical of reformists in Australia and I consider our Labor Party to have degenerated below reformism, merely fighting to keep the old reforms instead of paving the way for new ones. They've also shifted to a more right-wing position in the last decade, which is a disgusting betrayal of the workers they claim to fight for.

Anyway, nice to meet you guys!

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

What attracted you to Socialist Alternative? I heard they recently had a merger with a smaller group (http://www.revleft.com/vb/merger-socialist-alternative-t175353/index.html?t=175353). How did that work out?

Their revolutionary politics and Trotskyist views, along with militancy really led me to associate myself with them and become a member. I'm too recent of a member to really understand the merger with the old RSP (Only joined a few weeks ago, been associating and working with them for a couple months longer)

From what I know, the only differences between the old RSP and Socialist Alternative have been the RSP's views on past revolutions and regarding nations like Cuba and Vietnam.

As you put "Socialist Alternative" as your organisation, I suggest you put "(Australia)" after it. The reason for this is that the name "Socialist Alternative" outside Australia is mostly used by the Committee for a Workers' International (the Socialist Party in Australia), so this might result in confusion.
