Well, Wikia uses MediaWiki (which was originally made for Wikipedia) and was co-founded by the same guy who co-founded Wikipedia, but they use a few modifications which makes it pretty terrible.

I haven't tested them myself but after a quick search these hosts are free and should deliver a good experience, close to Wikipedia:
