Recently, a few of us at work started noticing that the shelves in the Walgreens next door to us were going bare and when we asked what was going on they said they were remodeling. Well, more started noticing so yesterday I said to the cashier that people are starting to talk. Her response took me back because she is this baby boomer who you can tell was a hippie back in the 60's, a sweet mannered woman always in a positive mood so her response of, "Good, I hope they write a fucking article about it." so that pretty much brought into place that what is happening isn't remodeling but an actual shuttering of the place for some reason. I talked to my boss about it and he remembers that when Walgreens first opened up back in August 2007 they received a tax break from the City, offsetting costs onto the peoples property taxes. He figures since the contract for the tax break was for 8 years that this could be the reason for shuttering the store as well as poor location considering there is a Rite Aid down the road and a Bottom Dollar opened up a year ago.

When I learn more I'll update this. I've even sent an email to Walgreens Corp with questions. I probably won't receive a response.
