Ok, so, here's the situation prior to last month all rent and so on has been given to my landlord exactly on time. This month, and I feel due to my unruly neighbors he didn't collect last months rent. Now, the thing is my roommates have saved texts where they tried to set up a meeting to give him the money; no response. Sisters fiancé even tries to use my phone. No response. How can he try to evict us or say it's "wrongful occupation"? We have rent and shit but he just wouldn't come and get it and boom, as soon as I wake up, I get a knock at the door from the Sheriffs. This is so lame, can anyone help me or give me advice? I'm pretty sure this illegal.

Yeah that does sound incredibly shady. Those texts and any evidence you have showing a good-faith effort to pay the rent should be important, though -- but I think that's only if this ends up in court

Did you sign a lease? Or rather do the people currently living there have their names on the lease?

Yeah you can't be evicted without notice. If you don't have any lease agreement and just pay it month to month, the landlord is still supposed to give you either 2 weeks or 30 days (can't remember) to get your stuff out and find a new place. If he just didn't show up to get the rent and stopped responding or anything I'd have *not* waited a month to find out what was up, though.

Yeah the sherrif shouldn't be able to just show up and throw you out unless theres been a chain of events leading up to that. If you dont have a lease, for your own protection I think you'll need to be able to show some kind of proof that you've been legally inhabiting the apartment. Bills in your name, a receipt from your landlord showing that you've paid rent in the past, etc.

You may want to hide any paraphernalia that may have accidentally found its way into your apartment until this is all over and done with. Or entrap and blackmail your landlord with it, either way.

I'm actually working on the latter. Cuz I found out this isn't me misunderstanding things, it's the landlord being a cock. Like I got this paper from some swine whom interrupted my morning rituals and this paper says "wrongful occupation," and is alleging that I am delinquent on 2 months rent BUT I had that rent money and have actually been trying to pay him for 2 weeks or more and I have saved texts and call logs and everything. I hadn't heard one thing at all from him until boom, this paper and court date. Bullshit.
I do not like being on a first name basis with the magistrates. Da fack. T-T
Idk why people have to be so mean to me. No lease but I have bills and communiques and such.

You should probably be a little more coy about it LOL
"SWIM is working on the latter." Then again that's more like "SWIM is going to kill the unbelievers at dawn" as opposed to "SWIM tripped balls off paint fumes last night."

Pffffffft, is internet baby and yeah, good point.
I found an apartment yesterday that seems to be nicer and such. I decided with me crew we're moving and I found out if I have this all sorted before court they'll probably give me 30 days or so. The landlord is trying to evict us in like a week so if I can atleast convince the courts I am good they shoul give me my dates. Idkk, I just think it's bullshit and this guy deserves to be blacklisted from the property game. My neighbor said he prefers drug dealers and people on gov't assistance because they'll always have rent on point and never call for him to do stuff. I assume he's mad because I expected him to be a landlord and deal with this crazy, drunk psycho lady who keeps harassing me and my sister. :( I called the cops even multiple times like a good little girl and they wouldn't do anything. Woman even put a restraining order on ME when she's like a million pounds and I'm like 90 according to the protector order. Got it dismissed though. Point, living here is hell and I feel he should be punished.
