Just thought I'd see what this is all about. Used to be a Socialist in my early 20's, but became disillusioned with both sides of the political coin. Both seem to be about imposing their style of governance on the people regardless of if many of the people want it. Still, there are tenets I agree with Socialism on.
We'll see what may come of my experience here.
Cheers
Welcome :)
If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!
If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.
Where do you happen to disagree with socialist ideas? There are many socialist currents and I'm sure there is one you happen to share your views with and that could help you find out more.

Well, perhaps the one thing I can't seem to grasp is socialism and it's attitude towards owning a business. I own my own businesses that only have me as the employee, which is fine, I don't want to exploit others for my own gain. However, if I were to employ others, I would make it as democratic as possible with stakes owned by all workers. I know that tends to be a socialist concept. So maybe it's not a matter of disagreement but rather confusion. The problem being that the only socialist I know is my father and he has own views. Hence why I'm here; to learn from others.

What political coin? Is socialism the opposite of conservatism, liberalism, fascism or what? what is this flip side? Democratism? or are you for the so called center, the best of both worlds, the real democracy?
